Final Week

  • Mandatory Meeting
  • Turn in portfolio for final grade
  • Work on departmental final exam (for dept. purposes only)
  • Bring scantron/pencil

12/15
  • Last day to submit any revised essay
  • If you turn in any revised essay, grade will be posted the following Monday on jagnet
  • Will check portfolio
  • We will watch a film and say our goodbyes
Note: Luis Peralez, Tristan Echavarria, Luis Garza I need you to email me ASAP. 

It was a pleasure having you in class. Good luck.  Keep working hard on your drafts. This is just a step in the next chapter of your academic life.

Organize Portfolio

Assignment: Organize your portfolio

  • Print Index Page (Under Assigned Readings) with your name and class information
  • Separate portfolio into sections (notes, response papers, essays, etc.) 
  • Include all work submitted throughout semester 


Write: Short Reflective Essay (1-2 Pages)
  • Tell me what you have learned in class, the most important thing. (Be Specific)
  • How has your writing changed
  • How did you view reading and writing before, how do you view it now?
  • How do you plan to use what you learned in the future?

Research Paper Due

  • 4 pages
  • 2-3 sources (JSTOR, EBSCOhost, Books, Journals)
  • One source can be from the following (The New Yorker, NPR, The Atlantic)
  • Include parenthetical citations
  • Works Cited page
  • Provide heading / Double Spaced / 12 pt font / New Times Roman
  • Must have thesis, must have argument, topic sentences
  • Must provide academic research

If you have not completed your research abstract (summary), click on the comments section below. Tell me your topic, some information related to your sources. I want to be able to guide your research but I can't do that unless I know what you are going to write about.

  • ·         Include topics that you want to discuss
  • ·         Bring me 3 ACADEMIC sources that are related to your topic
  • ·         Use the library
  • ·         2 source must come from JSTOR/EBSCOhost/Books/Journal Articles

  • Read your sources, print them out, and have them ready for next class period
  • ·         Do not use Wikipedia, or general internet sources
  • ·         I will allow you to use NPR, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Vice as 1 of your sources
  • ·         I will check sources and collect abstract next class period
